A group from Bais Shmuel Chabad in Crown Heights have departed today for a three day trip to Alma Ata, Kazakhstan.
They will spend Shabbos, Chof Av, the yartzeit of the Rebbe’s father, R. Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, at his gravesite in Alma Ata. They are also transporting many boxes of much-needed Kosher food and Judaica items for the local Chabad center.
Joining the group are elder Chosid R’ Moshe Kugel, who was one of the founders of the radio transmission of the Rebbe’s sichos, and lecturer Rabbi Levke Kaplan.
The travelers from New York will be joined by a group from Bal Harbour, FL and bochurim from Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva in Toronto, one of whom will celebrate his birthday on Chof Av, and is named Levi Yitzchok as well.
The group first stopped at the Rebbe’s Ohel gravesite in Queens before departing from JFK airport.
Some of the trip’s cost is being subsidized by businessmen Avi Shaulson and Shmuli Stern, who support the food and programming expenses of the annual visitors to R. Levik’s gravesite at his Yartzeit, as well as businessman Zalman Schochet.
Have an inspiring time!
