Menachem Mendel Bruchstat, a Lubavitcher bochur who battled an illness throughout his life yet brought joy to many, passed away on Friday, 1 Sivan 5777.
He was 19.
He was loved by many and especially his friends from the Oholei Torah boys school in Crown Heights. Recently, his classmates founded a minyan named Beis Menachem Mendel in the Bruchstat home.
“He did Mitzvos beautifully and had a tremendous amount of Ahavas Yisroel,” one of his friends said. The name Mendel was later added to his name.
He is survived by his parents R’ Sholom and Rochel Bruchstat, and siblings Schneur Zalman Bruchstat – Crown Heights; Chanie Cousin – Crown Heights; Pessy Evers – Amsterdam, The Netherlans; Hindy Griesman – Crown Heights; Perry Wolosov – Crown Heights, Menucha Richler – Crown Heights; Berel Bruchstat – Crown Heights; Mushka Gerlitzky – Postville, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his grandmother Mrs. Basya Kalmenson of Aubervilliers, France.
The levaya will take place on Friday 1:00 PM from Shomrei Hadas Chaples and pass by 770 Eastern Parkway at 1:30 PM.

Our son is devastated, he is out of town now, and he was looking forward to spending summer with him. Menachem gave him Chayois, Menachem gave him Joy, Menachem gave him Love.
By our son, whenever he was home, everything he did was after he made sure that Menachem has what he needs. Menachem brought out the best in our son. May he open the gates by Hashem to send Moshiach Tzidkanu Mamosh NOW!

Gonna miss you a lot Menachem, I’m crying.
Oy vey he was my classmate.
Moshiach now!!
He loved learning and music and helping others.
My son is one of the Oholei Torah boys. He and his classmates loved Menachem dearly. They included him in everything and he was always a part of them. Last year, a few of them arranged to come home from yeshiva for the day just to surprise Menachem for his birthday. Whenever his friends were home from yeshiva, Menachem was the first person they would visit with. His passing has left a hole in many people’s hearts. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Boruch Dayan Ha’emes.
