President Donald Trump is known to freely express himself on Twitter, yet news reports say he has “an allergy to computers and phones.”
Specifically, news website Axios reported that Trump typically likes to use a black Sharpie to write comments or instructions to staffers on newspapers.
Leaders of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council received an example of this on Tuesday.
The organization’s Executive Director Eli Cohen and governmental affairs liaison Chanina Sperlin sent a congratulatory letter to the Trump Tower in New York City on November 11.
They wrote that “special spiritual powers are bestowed on international leaders when they ascend to their position.”
They added, “this is especially true when we are talking of the leader of a nation that was founded on great moral principals and that has been a force for good in the world arena.”
They went on to quote the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who lived and operated from Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, calling America “a land of kindness.”
Cohen and Sperlin pointed out that “an overwhelming proportion of our community supported your candidacy” in Crown Heights. They offered “our services in any way that you will find useful”, noting that our community is known for bringing together racial and ethnic groups.
On Tuesday, they received a copy of the letter with a handwritten note and signature by President Trump.
It read:
“Chanina & Eli
Thank you
So Nice –
Donald Trump”
loved how he answered Rebbe style (lehavdil) sill very artsy way of answering
There are rules about how many times there is alternate side parking mostly on how much garbage is collected by the sweepers.
Make sure the streets are clean and it will be one day until then stop complaining
also from Pirkei Avos
“Be careful with authorities, for they do not befriend a person except for their own sake. They appear as friends when they benefit from it, but they do not stand by a person in his time of need.”
Someone presidential looking
don’t become too close with the government
This time the Community Council should be applauded for doing the RIGHT thing!!!!!
Now FREE RUBASHKIN!!!!!!!
Please don’t compare anyone to our Rebbe!
guys, next time be creative.
thanks,
ch
make america great again
Presidents don’t do that..their staffers do..this is more chashuv that he actually took the time to personally handwrite it, an idea almost nonexistent for today’s times
He takes after the Rebbe and reuses the same paper instead of wasting more paper
Our Dear Rebbe would often hand mark responses on our letters. So why should we expect any more formality from (lehavdil) our President?
Maybe you guys can put your act together and reduce alternate side parking to once a week like other areas of brooklyn instead of all talk…
Like he has time….
I am embarrassed to live in a community whose leaders are proud to say that an overwhelming majority of its members voted for such a person.
I understand why people chose trump over Hilary, (although I don’t see why there was a need to vote him in ny state) but it’s a chilul Hashem that we are proud of it.
Yisroel.
its actually a higher level. Handwritten letter
It’s an embarrassment for Jews to support this guy.
Are you on a diff planet?
The President has been in office for less then a week worrying about the safety and security of the US, Israel, the world at large with thousands of letters pouring in and major issues to address. But you think he should spend… I mean waste his time on writing a “formal letter”. Wow. I’m impressed with your intelligence. Glad you made your point on this forum. It was expected that someone like you would say something like this anyway. And hey, it wasn’t that bad, so i’ll take it.
To #14: It is beautiful that he DID put it on top because it showed that he cares about the letter itself.
It is nice that the president took the time to respond. However
He could have done it with a more formal response letter adressed to rabbi sperlin and rabbi cohen and the crown heights community, not just a note written over their letter.
Nice gesture none the less.
please release Rubashkin!!!!!
Would have been a wonderful opportunity to mention the release of Rubashkin.
I think also the trump donuts at gombos made it
What abt freeing Rubashkin ????
The CHJCC has enough to worry about in Crown Heights. Not ready to tackle other communities yet.
So beautiful that he not only took the time to thank them but took the time to learn their names!!
BS”D Guess who’s coming to Succos (hopefully)
@ 3 :)😀
That was very nice. I think the Donald really does appreciate the Jewish communities support. I hope he can find compassion in his heart to liberate Sholom Rubashkin and Iy”h he will help out Israel BIG LEAGUE!
Very nice
Notice the sky scrapers in his signature 😉
Looking forward to a much stronger, safer, and prosperous America!
