The Shluchim to Yeshivah Gedolah – Melbourne from throughout the years (since the first group in 1967), gathered for a historic Kinus Hakhel on Thursday the 23rd of Cheshvan.
The Kinus was convened as per the Rebbe’s directive that throughout the year of Hakhel, Kinusim should be held to increase Yiras HaShem.
The Kinus was coordinated by a number of shluchim who have returned over the past few years. The evening was chaired by Shliach Mendel Dubov.
The kinus was also L’ilui Nishmas an exemplary Shliach, both in Melbourne and later in Tzfas, Rabbi Aaron Leizer Ceitlin OBM.
The official program began with a Dvar Malchus, an in-depth analysis on the children’s involvement in Hakhel, delivered by Rabbi Shmuel Lesches (Maggid Shiur in Yeshivah Gedolah).
Rabbi Yossel Minkowitz (first kevutzah in 1967) spoke of the uniqueness of this Shlichus and the great Kiruvim they were zoche to receive from the Rebbe. Next was Rabbi Yankel Reizes who continued to talk about the special Shlichus, and spoke passionately about his dear colleague, Rabbi Ceitlin.
Before the official program concluded, which was followed by Shluchim naturally beginning to cluster together with chaveirim whom they hadn’t seen in years, Rabbi Moshe New (a talmid in YG) spoke of the great impact the Shluchim had in all of Australia, and had personally changed him forever.
A beautiful video was shown, prepared by HaTomim Menachem Aron. The video began with a recording of the yechidus from the Rebbe to the very first kevutzah in 1967.
It was followed by several photos and a very powerful speech by Reb Aharon Laizer Ceitlin regarding Hakhel, delivered in 770 on Rosh Chodesh Kislev 5748.
This video featured greetings and Hisoirerous from Rabbi Binyomin Cohen (Rosh Yeshivah), Rabbi Y. Winner (Mashpia), and from a current Shliach in YG, HaTomim Shmuli Lezak.
Following the video, a special Teshurah was distributed to all those present, including the Rebbe’s directives to the shluchim starting from the very first yechidus. The Teshura also featured articles and photos of the 3 Shluchim whom have passed away, Rabbi Liebel Kaplan, Rabbi Lipa Dubrowsky and Rabbi Ceitlin.
The overwhelming majority of the shluchim through the years were able to attend and the Kinus was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
After the official program, shluchim remained and farbrenged all night together with their kevutzos.
The organizers heartily thank the many Shluchim and sponsors who made the Kinus possible and the major Hatzlocha that it was.
