NYPD officers who arrested a man responsible for a recent string of armed muggings and a shooting received awards for their service to the community.
At Thursday’s 71st Precinct monthly council meeting, the officers were thanked for their quick apprehension of 32-year-old Jovan Frederick, who was charged Monday with attempted robbery, as well as 2 attempted murders, 3 robberies, one assault in the 1st degree and criminal possession of a weapon.
Lt. Louis Machado, Sgt. John Addeo, and Police Officers Frank Beers, Steven Fersa, Michael Gonzalez, Paul Mallilo, Ryan Norwood, Paul Parkinson and Jose Sanchez received awards from 71st Precinct Chief George Fitzgibbon at a ceremony in the Precinct.
The officers had been assigned to the area where the shooting and muggings took place, and successfully arrested Frederick after the attempted robbery of a female at the corner of Albany and Midwood in Brooklyn.
He was charged with all three crimes after the 71 Precinct Detective Unit investigated the incidents and compared evidence, video, witness statements and ballistics recovered from the scenes.
You can’t be serious. These guys took a bad bad man off our streets. They put their lives on the line every day like no other job in the city. This is absolutely the least that they should get for doing their job well. This kind of appreciation is what will help motivate other officers to work hard to keep our streets safe.
Fact is they’re just doing their job.
Thats what they paid for.
Do we thank our mailman, garbage man, fireman
Etc. In grand fashion?
We do appreciate what they accomplish.
I would have liked to see more Jewish faces in the crowd, shouldn’t our community also express thanks?
Shmira together with the NYPD they caught this thug
We appreciate your fine work on this case and so much more!
Thanks for the good work NYPD. We want a regular police presence all over the crown heights streets
“Attempted robbery, as well as 2 attempted murders, 3 robberies, one assault in the 1st degree and criminal possession of a weapon.” Hmm, how many months will he be sentenced to? After all, he’s not a heinous criminal like Rubashkin, so shouldn’t expect a very lengthy stay in the slammer…
