I heard in one of Rabbi Levi Garelik’s classes that his uncle, Reb Avrohom Sasonkin, heard it in Pittsburgh after his wedding. (Rabbi Sasonkin married Rabbi Garelik’s aunt, Mrs. Soro Rivka, daughter of Rabbi Sholom Posner – By the way – the second to the last wedding that the Rebbe officiated). He brought it to Israel when they went on shlichus and the song “ciught on” very well….. The following year, Rabbi Lider from Kfar Chabad came for Tishrei to the Rebbe. When did The Rebbe say (confirmed) that this nigun הושיעה את עמיך is indeed a Lubavitcher nigun?
