Mrs. Dina Dahan, whose love for Torah was ingrained in her own children as well as her many students, passed away on Wednesday, 10 Adar II 5774.
She was 62.
As a passionate and graceful teacher, Dahan taught children in a day care in her home in the Nachlas Har Chabad neighborhood of Kiryat Malachi in Israel.
She also taught children in after-school programs and was the housemother of the Beit Sefer LaMelacha, the vocational school in the Southern city which caters to children from troubled homes.
“She was a very devoted daugher, mother and grandmother,” a family member told COLlive about her care and generosity which were infused with commitment to Torah and Mitzvos.
Many of her students were influenced by her love, as were her children who moved on to hold respected positions in Shlichus around Israel, running Chabad centers and even a Kashrus agency and Yeshivos in Ashkelon and in a suburb of Montreal.
3 years ago, Mrs. Dahan was diagnosed with a terrible illness. “She lived and accepted her challenges with dignity and love and emuna in Hashem,” a family member said. “She was a very special woman.”
She is survived by her husband R’ Eliyahu Dahan, their children Rabbi Levi Menachem Dahan – Kiryat Malachi; Shlucha Etty Mor Yosef – Pardesia; Mrs. Sarit Urian – Ashkelon; Shliach Rabbi Yehuda Meir Dahan – Montreal, Canada; Shlucha Chani Cohen – Har Choma, Jerusalem; Mrs. Riki Abukasis – Kiryat Malachi; Shlucha Yaeli Sasson – Rishon Letziyon; Mrs. Chaya Tuito – Kiryat Malachi; R’ Yisroel Dahan – Netanya; Shlomo Dahan – Kiryat Malachi; and grandchildren.
Her levaya took place Wednesday from the central Chabad shul in Kiryat Malachi and she was buried in Har Hamenuchos in Jerusalem.
The family will be sitting shiva in Israel. Rabbi Yehuda Meir Dahan can be reached at [email protected].
