It is so sad to hear of the loss of my sweet cousin Shaina a.h,. We were very close as children, going ice skating during our winter break from school and spending many a shabbos together. I remember how thrilled I was to hear she was getting married and moving to Buffalo as the wife of a Chabad shaleach She always made me feel loved and special and although I have not seen her for decades because I live in Israel, I will miss her goodness and purity.

I am so shocked and sorry to hear of the passing of mrs. charitonow! I went to buffalo to be a counsellor there in the summer about 5 years ago. She made such a strong impact on me. Such a loving person, a mother to everyone.

i was devastated to hear of the petira of shaina a.h. – and you may know that sadly , my rebbetzin Sara Leah (bas yehuda leib )was niftar last Shabbat, so i have an idea what you’re going through. as your friend & colleague who worked with you in Buffalo all those years ago and who knew your rebbetzin, it is particularly ironic. she was a terrific strong hearted , and warmhearted woman. May the Aibishter give us the koach to be “veyiso’ooh” – thats really the only alternative we have.

May the Rabbi and his children have comfort from the fact that Shaina touched so many people in her lifetime. Mostly i think she was “cool” i grew up in Amherst and always wanted to be on the inside of things . talking to Shaina and her being my friend made me feel i had arrived that i wasn’t an outsider to yiddishkeit anymore. May her family celebrate only simcha’s from now on. And my she intecede the Eibister to send moshiach now . And to Shaina’s Mother I would like to say Blessed are you for raising such a… Read more »

Her mother’s maiden name is ebert and not zirkind although she is related to the zirkinds. In the beginning they are for sure going to be sitting in Crown Heights.
We should only hear and share simchas together with the coming of Moshiach!

What's going on lately? First Overlander, then this??
January 25, 2013 11:20 am

It’s not right, it’s beyond reason. This shlucha of Amherst was privately, without fanfare, doing mitzvahs daily helping the local jewish women. She will definitely be missed by all. Only Simchas from now on for Charitonows.
