Rebbetzin Devorah Krinsky, wife of Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, Mazkir of the Rebbe and Chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, passed away on Friday night, Kislev 10, 5773 after a brief illness.
Surrounded by her husband and children, and after the Friday night Kiddush was recited at her bedside, she peacefully returned her soul to her Maker at the age of 74.
The daughter of Rabbi Zev and Etta Kasinetz, her parents’ home in Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood was a hub for early Lubavitch activities in the United States in the late 30s and 1940’s.
Mrs. Krinsky was raised with a deep commitment to the world of Chabad-Lubavitch and its ideals. Her father, regularly seen at the Rebbe’s farbrengens in 770 Eastern Parkway, was a member of the board of Agudas Chassidei Chabad International.
She was among the first students to study in the 1940s founded Associated Beth Rivkah Schools, what would become the flagship educational institution for Chabad girls. She attended high school at Bais Yaakov in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Immediately after her marriage in 1957, Rabbi Krinsky was called up to work in the Rebbe’s office in Lubavitch World Headquarters, as part of the Rebbe’s secretariat.
Together with her husband, Mrs. Krinsky shared in the day-to-day developments of the phenomenal growth of Chabad-Lubavitch under the Rebbe’s leadership. Rabbi Krinsky chairs today Merkos and Machne Israel, the Lubavitch educational and social services organizations.
As matriarch of the family, and a partner and pillar of support to her husband as he served the Rebbe, Mrs. Krinsky exemplified the true woman of valor. Her warmth and humor, her quick wit, practical common sense, and her concern for others complemented her dignified comportment.
With characteristic joi de vivre, she established her Crown Heights home as a lively hub for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family, and for international visitors and dignitaries to 770.
She is survived by her husband, Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, long-time aid to the Rebbe, and their children: Rabbi Hillel Dovid Krinsky – Crown Heights, Mrs. Sheine B. Friedman – Crown Heights, R’ Menachem M. Krinsky – Crown Heights, Rabbi Levi Krinsky – Director of Lubavitch of New Hampshire, Mrs. Chana Futerfas – Crown Heights and Rabbi Shmaya Krinsky – Crown Heights; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother Rabbi Moshe A. Kasinetz, founding rabbi of Suburban Torah Center in Livingston, New Jersey.

She was a true example of what an eyshes chayil represents.
It’s a tremendous loss for us all.
She is the most special, dignified, elegant, polite, and regal woman. A true ‘dugma chaya’ to all — An incredible, welcoming, caring hostess, baal buste!
Her Chassidishkeit, dedication to the Rebbe’s inyonim, and amazing strength throughout all her full days and nights of hectic schedules — ALL performed with a manner of grace and royalty!
Sorry to read this very sad news,
I remember as a little child , getting shoes from her store, she was such a nice person, and being that her husband was a Mazkir o the Rebbe, she (probably) had tens of years of having a very busy household, with her husband being so busy with his holy work.
May her family have only happiness and Simches going forward, and may she be a Mayletz Yosher.
You took the words out of my mouth.
She reminds me of the Rebetzin as well.
