Families of Special Needs Children
August 2, 2012 1:53 pm

Dear Chani and Berel, You don’t know me nor I you. I am the grandmother of a beautiful special needs granddaughter whom we dearly love. What you are about to undertake with Friendship Circle is one of the most important shlichus that you can imagine. The “glamour” that you may feel is lacking by not being in some far off community doing the Rebbe’s work, will be offset by working together with the most wonderful families who are dealing on a daily basis with the trials and tribulations of raising a special needs child. Happy for them..but how is this different from any teacher, etc who has offers to go teach in other cities but stays here in CH to teach OUR OWN CHILDREN!!

That’s why, teacher and those in chinuch were part of the first Sefer Hashiluchim at the Rebbes request…Against the establishment who did not want this to happen.

Much Hatzlocha to this great dynamic couple.

how about a Chabad house in CH?

CH needs much more shluchim
August 2, 2012 9:59 am

CH has a lot of Jews that need help both spiritually and materially. they (we) need shluchim here, to help the Jews of CH – to daven more, longer, to do chitas and Rambam b’hiddur, probably need counsellors to help sholom bayis, etc.

“It may not be the popular thing to do and definitely not as ‘glamorous'”

It’s pretty sad that Shlichus is described and measured in these terms. Shlichus was never about glamour, and I almost find it insulting that outreach in one’s own hometown is considered to be on a lower plane and the last resort.
Good on ya Majesky’s! Hopefully Crown Heights will benefit greatly from your wise decision to stay.
