My name is Malky Levy and I’m 13 years old.
For the Power of Jewish Children contest I decided to write an essay about the chesed I do.
I visit a boy named Laizer Galperin, who a year and a half ago suffered severe burns all over his body.
I visit Laizer and play with him about once a week. We play hide and seek, tag, we color, read books together, and we also play on the Wii.
When I go it makes Laizer and myself very happy! I am very close with Laizer. I feel so special that I have this opportunity to play with him!
Helping Laizer has taught me many lessons. His mother Devorie, who is always happy, has strong emunah in Hashem and truly believes that everything He does is for the good. Devorie will never give up!
From spending time with Laizer I realized that we shouldn’t take life for granted and we should be happy with what we have – May he have a speedy recovery!

really. All those kids that are able to do all these really awesome things like juggling and gymnastics, etc. It’s really amazing and that’s great especially if they are using their talents for good things, but something like this that doesnt at 1st glance seem to be a jaw dropper, is a real winner. My heart is melting! As the boy is from Nachlas har Chabad, where 98% of the families there are middle class at best, I hope they had enough contributions come in to help the Galperin family. I can’t imagine how they can afford all these expenses let alone how they withstand the emotional pain from this huge test from Hashem.
