Throughout the five weeks in Camp Gan Israel of Florida, campers worked on preparing a special and most befitting present for the Rebbe, by learning Mishnayos and Tanya by heart.
Together, they learned and were tested on a total of over 37,000 lines of Mishnayos, Tanya and Siddur, with their achievements surpassing previous year’s accomplishments in all but one category.
This number includes: 7 Mesechtos, 109 complete perakim, 1,136 Mishnas & 11 perakim Tanya. Campers also had the chance to get tested on many Yediyos Kloliyos from a special MBP Handbook (courtesy of Rabbi Sholom Heidingsfeld of Cheder Menachem – Los Angeles, CA).
Parents were continually updated of their child’s progress throughout the summer months via the camp’s MBP website & weekly or bi-weekly personalized emails (the database & website courtesy of Rabbi Dovid Zirkind of www.baalpeh.com).
As in previous years, a beautiful Seforim catalogue was produced, where campers were able to browse the seforim and their value and make a goal for themselves, how much they plan to learn this summer. Towards the end of the summer, campers were allowed to order seforim from the catalog, based on the points they earned throughout the summer.
Worthy to mention, many campers after reaching their goal, continued their efforts and surpassing their goal, surprising themselves how much they were actually able to do.
On Friday, Yud Beis Menachem Av, campers & staff gather in “The Shteelbe” for its 5th annual Mishnayos Be’Al Peh Award Ceremony. Campers were awarded their Seforim as the entire camp staff and administration – which included the camp’s Executive Director, Rabbi Yosef Biston and Director, Rabbi Yossi Goldblatt – joined to pay tribute to the children’s efforts.
The children were welcomed and commended for their accomplishments and efforts by the Camp’s Learning Director, Rabbi Shloime Rabin. Leibelovitch, coordinator of the Mishnayos Be’al Peh program, was then called up to announced the accomplishments of this year’s MBP.
This was then followed by honoring the top 3 campers with the highest accomplishments to receive their prizes; Menachem Mendel Konikov of Bunk Zayin, Yitzy Roth of Bunk Zayin & Avraham Kagan of Bunk Gimmel.
Each camper was then called up to receive his seforim, according to his achievements. A simultaneous Multimedia presentation was placed as each camper was called up; displaying each camper’s picture, points, achievements and seforim they were receiving.
The campers, staff and administration of Camp Gan Israel Florida wish all campers continued success in their limudim. It is their hope that the campers’ accomplishments & achievements give much nachas to the Rebbe and, as explained in the Rebbe’s Sichos, will bring the Hisgalus of Moshiach Now.
