The interest in and study of Kabbala has been a popular notion for a number of decades and continues to fascinate many.
Rabbi Shalom Ber Schapiro of the Mindel Archives has been asked by shluchim on numerous occasions what, if anything, has the Rebbe said about the teaching and study of Kabbala in our day and age. Kabbala seems to be a popular universal pursuit for many searching and curious souls. How should we deal with this phenomenon?
To answer this question, Rabbi Schapiro is sharing a few interesting documents from the Mindel Archives:
A letter by Rabbi M.A. Hodakov in answer to one who is inquiring on behalf of a young man stationed in Korea who is interested in Kabbalah.
The Rebbe’s handwritten notation on this letter indicates that the answer should come from מל”ח (Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch) and therefore, it was Rabbi M.A. Hodakov, Director of ML’Ch., who responds to this inquiry.
A section of a letter from the Rebbe regarding the study of Kabbala in India.
A letter from the Rebbe – from The Letter and the Spirit (Volume II) in which the Rebbe clearly explains the guidelines and prerequisites necessary for doing research into and the learning of the Kabbala.
This material will hopefully help shluchim in the spreading of Chassidus to the world in a most effective way – the true Torah way.
Not only is the material too hard for a beginner, but it is very abstract and requires a very experienced teacher.
Chassidus is better for those who wish to connect to HaShem.
