Shluchim Seminar in Melbourne

Kollel Menachem of Melbourne, Australia recently hosted a training seminar for local Shluchim. Guest speaker, Rabbi Ari Shishler of South Africa presented on the topic of Strategies for Effective Adult Education. Rabbi Shishler shared his insights and experience as a popular speaker and as Director of Adult Education at the central Chabad House of Johannesburg.

The topics covered included attracting people to your shiurim, how to keep people at your shiurim, getting return participants for your shiurim, as well as tips on content and presentation.

The Rabbinical students of the Kollel also participated in the seminar, to develop the skills which will assist them in the shiurim which they give around the community and will serve them in their future Shlichus positions.

Rosh HaKollel, Rabbi Yonason Johnson opened the seminar with Divrei Brocha and shared an insight from Chassidus, explaining how the ability to use the right words to give over an idea comes from an even deeper source than the intellect itself. Often we place emphasis on the content of our shiurim, but more important is to make the message accessible to the mekabel, our target audience.

The Shluchim and Kollel Avreichim found the session very beneficial and practical. The Kollel is already planning future training sessions for Shluchim in practical Shlichus skills as well as seminars in the practical Halochas which come up in the world of Shlichus.
