A young Chabad couple is moving out on Shlichus to Clarksville, Maryland, southwest of Baltimore and north of Washington, D.C., to which many of the area’s residents commute for work.
Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sufrin and his wife Chaya (nee Baron), currently based in Crown Heights, will be opening a new Chabad House.
The new shluchim were appointed by Rabbi Hillel Baron, Shliach to Howard County, MD and Maryland’s Head Shliach Rabbi Shmuel Kaplan.
“Clarksville is an up and coming, young community,” the young rabbi told COLlive.com.
He and his wife have visited Clarksville a few times and met with some of the local Jews.
“They are very excited about our move. We are establishing a new Chabad House there to serve the needs of the Jewish community,” he added.
With the bright holiday of Chanuka around the corner, the Sufrins are planning a Menora lighting that will also be an introductory event for their arrival.
