The Waverley Council, a government area in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia, launched a #communityheroes series.
Posted on their social media channels, the municipality says the purpose was to shed light on those who have been helping those in need during the Covid-19 pandemic “and the importance of feeling connected.”
The first installment featured Chabad Shluchim Rabbi Dovid Slavin and Laya Slavin, founders of Our Big Kitchen (OBK), a community-run industrial kitchen where meals are prepared for distribution to needy people across Sydney. Housed in the Yeshivah Centre, OBK is Kosher and Halal certified.
“We’re so thankful for all the great work Rabbi Dovid Slavin and Laya Slavin have been doing at Our Big Kitchen for years,” the Waverley Council wrote. “Thank you for helping our community and being #communityheroes.”
