Chabad of Markham in Canada launched the Smiles 4 Sderot campaign in response to the recent missile attacks from the Gaza strip and the terror that is reigning on Sderot and nearby Israeli cities.
“We cannot even to begin to imagine the untold trauma that is brought on to the little children when they are given 5 minutes to run and save their lives by taking cover in the closest bomb shelter,” said Shluchim Rabbi Avrohom and Goldie Plotkin.
The couple flew to Israel to attend the wedding of a nephew and decided to bring with them the suitcases of toys collected from community members who generously contributed to this campaign.
Rabbi Menachem Kutner, Director of the Chabad project for victims of terror and Sderot Shliach Rabbi Zev Pizem met with the Plotkins and sorted the toys, prepared beautiful gift packages and then delivered them all morning to traumatized families of Sdorot.
“We hope this will be only the beginning of many more campaigns to assist our brethren who are under fire. We can never ignore the cries of our children in distress,” says Rabbi Plotkin.
