Brothers of the Sufrin family, including the long-time singer Shlomo Simcha, recently collaborated to record a cover for the classic song from 1974 titled “Kan Tzipor.”
Composed by the legendary music director Yigal Calek, the song was introduced by his boys choir “Pirchei Yerushalayim.”
The lyrics are based on the instruction of the Torah about the Mitzvah of Shiluach haken to scare away a mother bird before taking her young or her eggs. The Torah promises long life to one who performs this Mitzvah.
The Sufrin brothers dedicated the song in memory of their dear father, Rabbi Mordechai Tzvi Sufrin OBM who cherished the Mitzvah of Shiluach Hakan, helped people perform the Mitzvah properly and loved to sing this song with his children.

This production is truly a work of musical and artistic splendor! Such a moving video and a testament to such a special family!
Why no mention that this song and video were produced and debuted for the annual Amudim 36 hour livestream campaign?
Probably because they didn’t know. But now it has a mention. Thank you for this.

Dov David!
That was really special. Always love the way Shlomo Simcha sings with such clarity and diction for people to hear and better understand the words. Had no idea what the lyrics/words were back in the day when Y.C’s choir sang them, or any other for that matter.
Thank you for sharing.
This is beautiful. Is it available to download?

I had the privilege of having Reb Mordechai as my Gemorah tutor when learning at Yeshiva Gedola Kingsley Way in London.
So warm, patient, caring and passionate about learning – which made a tremendous impact on me. It was the most Geshmake Gemora learning I’ve ever had.
I miss him very much.
