Mrs. Shayndel Gelernter, a long-time resident of Crown Heights, passed away Monday, 2 Shvat 5773.
She was 81.
Born in Poland, she survived the horrors of the Second World War and emigrated to the United States to build a family together with her husband R’ Shlomo Zalmen Gelernter, owner of the landmark Kesser Hats store on Kingston Avenue.
She is survived by husband and their children Shoshana Troppe, Queens; Yona Gelernter, Mina Sputz, Chani Cohen, Libby Chein, all of Crown Heights; and Henny Wolowik, CA: grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Levaya will take place Monday at Shomrei Hadas Chapel at 10:15am and passing by 770 Eastern Parkway at 11:15am.
The family will be sitting Shiva at 691 Crown St. (upstairs). The family requests people come no later than 10 PM. Email for nichum aveilim: [email protected]
