Ariella’s Friendship Circle at The Chai Center – Jewish Dix Hills in Long Island, New York, held a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on Sunday.
Before the event, Shliach Rabbi Yaakov Saacks and the new youth director, Rabbi Dovid Weinbaum helped some teens and their fathers connect with G-d.
And they got more than they expected: For two of them, it was a Bar Mitzvah, their first time they put on Tefillin.
“Nothing like starting the day with a Teffilin selfie,” Weinbaum wrote about his photo with Zachary Montanez.
With such a start, participants continues on with the day focusing on Mitzvos and helping others. Autism advocate Jesse A. Saperstein was the guest speaker at the breakfast, inspiring the crowd with his life journey with Aspergers.
