Chabad doesn’t listen to music all sefirah. In addition, what does sefirah have to do with it? Can we only listen to nigunim during sefirah? I say keep going with this every week all year round!

you can listen 2 music already....so why negunin????

you heard it from nechenya and that makes it a chabad song? I have a diferent opinion. I heard it from mendel and THAT makes it a chabad song. Great work! Warms my heart to see there are young people today that still have the feeling and love for the path of the chasidim from ages past. Our generation needs inspiration from people like mendel.

that’s why there is a nigun only download, for people like you who don’t like talking. for people like #19 there is talking. seems pretty reasonable to me.

Not too much talking

I only heard it from R’ Nechemia a”h, and therefore suggested it might have been one of his own being that he had many compositions. Based on the various comments, it would seem that this could be a variation of an existing Nigun. As for it being the Nigun from a different chassidus, that doesn’t necessarily discount it from being a Nigun Chabad as well. There are a fair share of Nigunim out there that we think of as Chabad Nigunim that are sung (often a little bit differently) by other Chassidim. In either case, being that I agree wholeheartedly… Read more »

and to all the comments from those that say its not really an authentic chabad niggun, well the main thing is that it brings out a point, not so different from Rabbi YY Jake. most of his flammable mesholim and story’s are not of chabad origin (at times far from it) never the less it works, some times.

R ‘ Nechemia was a trus Tzadik and Chosid, who I am sure is learning Chasidus in Gan Eden together with his father Hatomim R’ Yisroel Meir and the previous Rebbies

(Are you sure it was composed by Rabbi Altein, my understanding was that it isn’t a Lubavitcher Niggun?) Rabbi Avraham Yaakov Gluckowsky A”H used to sing this song quiet often. However, he sang it differently. If you get in touch with his grandsons from Rechovot they can tell you exactly how he would sing it (they even made a recording of it).

I want to start by saying that I read and take notes from all the comments and greatly appreciate the feedback. Even the ones I joke about, I’m listening to what you’re saying very carefully and my jokes are tongue-in-cheek. I don’t want to completely stop doing newer nigunim because I feel that just because a nigun was composed or overheard by someone we remember in our lifetime that doesn’t invalidate it as a Chabad nigun. Chassidim today are every bit as relevant as the Chassidim fun amol and thus so are our nigunim. Even if we don’t possess their… Read more »

Kudos on yet another beautiful presentation. Mendel, you definitely have this Chush and the “Gefil” (feeling), to present in song a nice and/or deep Nigun.
Youi might be on the younger side in age (Ad Meah ve’essrim), but sound and look very “Oisgehorevet” and mature in your understanding of the messages of the various Nigunim and their styles.
Keep going strong, and many will be those that have great appreciation for this effort of yours.
Thanks and Hatzlocho!
(You recognized M. pellin… do you recognize this one???)

this guy needs better lighting so it doesn’t look like a taliban video.
secondly, he should choose negunim that are more popular. Something like the negunim that are sung on shobbos between mincha and mariv.

very nice!

you sound like the rebbe’s chazzan and you know this nigunim same tone same avrything are just getting boaring not fun!!!

please some "relevant" niggunim
May 5, 2010 6:07 pm

there are so many niggunim from the rabeim which are not very well known, as well as niggunim from chasidim of the alter rebber vichulu that were sung at the rebeims farbrengens which can and should be taught… no disrespect to the composers of your “inspiring niggun composers”… just a suggestion….
we love you mendel…

Oich Mir a Chabad Niggun...

This Niggun (very similar), is sung in Vizhnitz. Eli Lipsker’s first record also features this Niggun……. Please sing something authentic.

This is HYSTERICAL!!!
May 5, 2010 4:01 pm

Love how he always responds to the comments on the previous video – you’re right, that is half the fun, if you follow them…
Anyway, i like this niggun, The beginning has a chazanish sound to it- listening made me feel like im in shul. the rest was fun, got me tapping along. I can only imagine how amazing it would sound recorded professionally, with his powerful voice, and some background instrumental music.

Its not a chabad song
