Thousands of Jews are planning to make the trip in secured vehicles to the Maaras Hamachpela in Chevron this week.
The occasion is Erev Rosh Chodesh Elul and the beginning of Selichos prayers in Sephardic Jewish communities.
Ohel Yitzchok, where the patriarch Yitzchok is interred and which is open year-round to Muslims but closed for Jews, will be open for Jewish prayers.
Chabad of Chevron, led by Rabbi Danny Cohen, is working to welcome the thousands of visitors with a large tent that will serve drinks and refreshments.
“We welcome the public to utilize this special day and come pray with us – in the merit of our forefathers, the children will be helped,” the Shluchim said.
Jews in “the Jewish State” are barred by their government from prayers at all times in a Jewish site.
Every Jew, speak out against this injustice. The stealing of our identity requires you to care. It should rip your heart. If it does not, you are in galus.
