First a 12-year-old, now a 20-year-old.
A Chabad yeshiva bochur was attacked by a group of African Americans on the main thoroughfare of the Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn Sunday night.
Walking south bound on Kingston Avenue near Crown Street at around 9:30 PM, the 20-year-old Jewish male was met by several black males of similar age heading north bound, when one of them punched him in the back of his head.
“I was in total shock,” the bochur, who was not injured, told COLlive.com. “It came out of nowhere.”
The New York Police Department’s 71st Precinct said Lt. Woroby responded to the scene and a canvass was immediately conducted with negative results.
The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force and the duty captain were notified.
This is the second local hate crime attack within a week. On Wednesday, Nov 6, 2013, a 12-year-old Jewish boy was hit by two teenage blacks while playing ball on President Street in Crown Heights.
i think no. 5 is right!!!!!!!!!!
we should improve
Oh so your saying because some ppl are not tzius hashemnis striking out against our children. What a great incentive to make a person want to be tznius. If my elbow isn’t covered my child will be beat up by black teens. Are u actually hearing yourself? What are u saying? Lubavitcher doesn’t teach like that, tondo something out of dead. And I pray gd is not so vengeful because aside religion is not supposed to be based in fear and revenge. Or is it?
set up { demand T].V. monitores on the streets of Crown Hieghts
“Vayaaminu Bahashem u-BMoshe Avdo”
Since the Rebbe taught us that improving tznius improves hashem’s protection to a community, i choose to believe that the Rebbe is to be trusted at his word and instructions.
as for Yankel Rosenbaum HY”D, that does not = chazal and the Rebbe wrong!
the Rebbe himself said that there are many factors that affect a communities safety, the main one is “Vehayu Machanecha Kadosh” as the Rebbe explained it to apply to us (just before the stroke), it refers to tznius, tznius will save lives!
we can trust the Rebbe!
Well said. I agree.
even when people that lived in crown heights were more tzyniuz there was crime in crown heights look at the riots in the 90 the people were more tznyiuz you cant blame everything that happens in crown heights to tznyiuz
to #38,
yes, the Rebbe was one of the most amazing people to ever live B’H, but DO NOT FORGET THAT HE IS NOT HASHEM. only Hashem has all of the facts!
Is that a fact or an opinion? The fixation on this gets worse.
Now back to the topic. I think cops need to be on patrol when the schools are letting kids go home, around those times are when they act up.
nothings random
lets each do our part vdal
HUH???????????????????????
to chabadniks, what the Rebbe says is not just theory, its reality, even if (at first) it seems to contradict your (SUPERIOR) judgement.
how many times did the Rebbe’s “theory” prove more “REAL” than prognosis from “Doctors??
as chasidim, we can safely trust the Rebbe’s words as accurate. as proven time and time and time again!!!
read the sichos pleases (on the connection between safety and tznius) all communities naturally have tragedy and “incidents”
what Mezuza and Tznius accomplish is to “ADD A SPECIAL PROTECTION” via “Vehayu Machanecha Kadosh” = this attracts the special divine protection through the presence of the shchina…
Examining what we can (and therefore should) do, Al Pi Teva and Al Pi Ruchniyus is the balanced (Torah) approach!
BUT HASHEM IS TAKING THIS OUT ON ALL OF US,IT’S OUR JOB TO GETTO GETHER AND WORK ON TZINUS SO IT PROTECT ALL OF US
I think the boy was dressed tzniyus
To #30 and #31. We should test that theory and see if it actually works all over the world. I really doubt it, but I live in reality.
In this week’s parsha, we read about Yaacov Avinu’s struggle with Esav’s malach. He wasn’t attacked because of lack of tznius. He was attacked when on his way to Eretz Yisroel. We are on our way to the geula shlaima and must move on forward-teaching Esav to bless the Jews and Hashem.
great , lets blame us.
you guys need help
you need to start learning about yiddishkeit.
enough putting the blame on the community. your thoughts and remarks are the main reason for losing that shmira that your talking about
you are so right!the problem in these days is that people are not tznius enough, and Hashem is obviously trying to tell us that we are doing something wrong and that we should fix it asap!
Read the sichos! Nothing happens purely by chance, everything has two levels and two tracks that must be examined, the Teva Keli and the Ruchniyus factors as well!
BS”D
the new mayor is not even in office yet and they are already emboldened, get ready for this City to turn into a war zone chas v Sholem
There is much we can do to attract more protection to our community from above VDa”l For everyone’s sake, let’s not forget what the Rebbe said Mezuza and Tfilin bring protection for the individual/family; whereas Tznius attracts a special level of divine protection against harm for the entire machaneh-community (say chazal and our Rebbe) the Rebbe (YES THE REBBE) linked Tznius to tragedies in a community. Do the Research! The Rebbe quoted many chazal and Kabala sources indicating how Hashem’s shchina and protection to a community (and cha”v the lack thereof) corresponds to the Tznius attire and manner, of that… Read more »
Any tehillim to say??
He is In my school
Actually it doesn’t. If that was the case it would repel people but it doesn’t.
you need alot of help!!
its a shame someone could ever make such a goyishe statement
how about…putting the bully kids who cause hurt and pain tp all normal jewish chilftrn in jewish schools etc, and put them in the street at night so they can beat up these fellas, maybe, that will help them correct their behaviour to their feloow yid.
anyone think im joking.
Presence of grown ups / males / more cars with strong Jewish guys will scare them to hurt the youth
It seems like every day there is another incident. What will it take for us to get some real police protection around here?!
i’m now scared for my kids to walk around CH even in daytime!
In Williamsburg, people dress properly (tznius). Perhaps that has something to do with it…
Actually they won’t. Trust me on that.
You’re right, people need to be tougher. Years ago When a black guy started up with my father, my father took care of him ve es darf tzu zain! Same in Williamsburg.
in williamsburg, they would kill these teens, maybe we should think about it
It’s more like ‘the two thousandth hate attack within two years’ – but who’se counting? But it’s encouraging to know that the police were out in full force on President street in the Jewish neighborhood last night carefully inspecting cars and writing tickets. I know because I saw it myself.
Perfect example how Hynes does nothing for our community ,and only prosecuted Jews
These 2 crimes happened smack in middle of Kingston Ave which is already overpopulated with camera’s, obviously that isn’t the cure to this problem. Having more police is also not the solution as Crown Heights already has above average police presence. Relying on Shomrim and Shmira to take care of us is also not the solution as they do the best they can but simply can’t be everywhere at every second. Now for the answers. Become educated about the law and learn how to force these criminals through the Justice system not just 2 hr’s in the station house. Start… Read more »
Maybe we’re not “proactive” enough as a community…?
There should be CCTV cameras on every street from Rutland Rd up to Sterling Place, and from Nostrand until Rochester. And the Police should have access to it when needed to solve a crime
maybe if 1 of these black teens get a major beat down, they will stop
It’s time to move.
They dont work that way. If you go that route they will continue to hate and assault the community until someone dies. They hide behind guns while we use seichel. Best option is to use the justice system for now unless things get really down and dirty.
Last night at 10pm i was walking on albany av. There was a large group of black teens walking next to me. One started screaming to me hey thats my brother so i gave shook his hand and said good night brother
why no arrests in all these cases?????????????????
With so many people walking in the street?
Negative results? What, do you really think they’d find them? How hard did they look anyway? Welcome to 71st precinct, Mr. New Commander, whateveryournameis. Did YOU show up? Take charge?
We need cameras on the streets, and we need to fight back, grab one of these guys and beat him to a pulp, ‘lmaan yishmau veyirau” then call the police.
at the close of one of the shabbosim a group of boys were walking by me in the opposite direction and one of them punched me in the back this happened on crown between kingston and albany they were all laughing afterward they may live in the apartment building on the corner of crown and albany the machon chana building cuz that is where they ran thank you a 60 year old lady from ch
Hashem should protect us!
