Russian Junior N’shei Chabad held their 17th Annual Farbrengen on Sunday night, Yud Shvat, at Lubavitch Yeshiva on Crown Street in Crown Heights.
The event, organized by Nurit Sarytchev and Rochel Faigen, attracted more than 150 Russian-speaking ladies not only from Crown Heights but from all over New York.
“One of the goals of the Farbrengen was to combine great Ruchnius with great Gashmius, in order to bring holiness into this world,” organizers said.
The guest speaker, Rabbi Shlomo Majesky, Dean of Machon L’Yahadus women’s institute in Crown Heights, spoke about how Chassidim accepted the Rebbe’s leadership on Yud Shvat, and how we need to do this again now.
After the inspiring words of Rabbi Majesky, most of the ladies signed their names on the kabolas malchus of the Rebbe. A song in honor of Chaya Yavich, whose recent passing shook the Russian community, was composed and performed by Miriam Ilyayev.
A beautiful performance of a ladies choir was led by Clara Landsman.
The hall was magically decorated by Chana Komarovskiy, who together with the help of volunteers, were able to turn the regular hall of the Lubavitcher Yeshiva into a beautiful garden.
Turk’s Exquisite Catering outdid himself with delicious gourmet food. Benshimon’s music was sweet and pleasant just to listen and at the same time fast and upbeat that left no women sitting.
“It’s hard to describe the warmth and unity that permeated that night among participants,” said organizers.
The finale of the farbrengen was a mini Chinese Auction that was run by Mrs. Leah Yechielov for Aliyas neshoma of her dear mother Reb. Sora Levin. The auction was partially sponsored by Crown Drugs, Mink Jewelers, Everything But the Baby and Prestige Embroidery. A dollar from the Rebbe with a Kuntres was a grand prize, won by Meyrav Tovitou.
