Mordy Kurtz and Yosef Peysin of the Rogers Park Band have been touring the world, playing at over 35 Chabad Houses in the past two years. They are known as “America’s Only Chassidic Folk-Rock Band” and their music is filled with chassidishe themes and inspiration.
After releasing an album of original English compositions, the duo is working toward the second album, to be released in Shevat 5778.
The album will be a compilation of Lubavitcher Niggunim and Yiddish songs as a thank you to the support of the Anash communities and the work of the shluchim.
“Everyone we speak to wants niggunim that are pure and unchanged from the original form, yet are exciting, fresh and pleasing to listen to. After the overwhelming response we received after we released the first two niggunim we recorded Harninu and Ki Hinei Kachomer, we decided to dedicate an entire album toward the beautiful and rich treasure that we have as Lubavitcher Chassidim,” says Kurtz.
“This album will be called “Petersburg” or “Petteirsberg” in Yiddish because it carries the message of a shlichus – the emesdikeit of Chassidim in Russia, but the breitkeit and conquering attitude of shluchim that have spread to major cities all over the world.”
To fund the completion of the recording, we are running a crowdfunding campaign to gather the remaining $10,000 needed, by simply pre-ordering your album now or contributing.
