New York Daily News
A shutterbug captured this photo of a gentleman cop helping an elderly woman across the street in Brooklyn.
“I thought it was really cool that he helped her,” photographer Dovid Zaklikowski, 33, said Wednesday. “I was just walking and snapped the picture.”
The father-of-four snapped the photo on Tuesday in front of the Jewish Children’s Museum on Eastern Pkwy. in Crown Heights and posted it on Facebook.
The NYPD said the cop is P.O. Mark Meyers from the 71st precinct and that he was unavailable for comment.
“I couldn’t let this moment slip by,” said Zaklikowski, an archivist at Lubavitch Archives. “But did not want to disturb the two, who looked like they were so involved in getting across the street, so I took the photo from a distance.”
Why bash something so obviously touching? Could it be that some people simply enjoy negativity? One wonders what they’ll have to say when they’re in their Golden Years. (May they tykeh be golden…)
a change in one it shows us how even goyim have goodness that hashem placed in them 🙂
New York’s finest.
To #4 – I don’t think “helping old ladies across the street” is a requirement of his job. Why are you giving him a hard time for doing what many of us wouldn’t think of doing for whatever the reason?
Who recognizes the Penny Lady!?!?
So beautiful!
Wow! That is beautiful!!!
BS”D # 13 read the following quote from # 4
“You know who I think he’s helping?
The Sheinkeit Lady. I hope she was nicer to him than she is to us.” If that is not bashing tell me what it is. And read a few others
Its nice to ser this lady getting some assistance. She doesn’t always seem to get the help she needs when she is kingston…
I agree with no. 4
They weren’t bashing. Read it again.
This is my new desk top picture
BS”D to # 4 would you have done it
If you bash a non well lady than indications are you would not help a person in distress.Your expertise is criticism
When I saw the pix I was pleasantly impressed, & wondered if the Officer was Jewish. Sure enough he is Mark Meyers!
Sounds Jewish to me, & if so.. a Kiddush HaShem indeed.
but its still a very very nice picture 🙂
that woman is…let’s say..unique.
its the penny lady
Thank you, officer, thank you, photographer, and thank you,
New York Daily News. Acts of goodness and kindness…universally appreciated…….
Makes me feel like there’s hope for mankind.
The Sheinkeit Lady. I hope she was nicer to him than she is to us.
OK so I will get bashed for this….but isn’t this “kindness” expected behavior, esp for a public servant? Why is it so mind blowing? Yes, it’s a nice picture, yes he’s doing a good thing….but are we all so selfish & insensitive we see this kind of thing as the exception rather than the norm?
If the answer is yes, we are all in a very bad way.
Very, very impressed and so beautiful!
HEARTWARMING ON THIS COLD WINTER DAY!
For a change it’s nice to see something so positive.
