Nevada Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign met with Rabbis Chaim and Yosef Cunin from Chabad of Nevada to celebrate the beginning of Chanukah.
Together they recited a Brachah, a traditional Jewish blessing said before the lighting of each candle on the menorah.
“The story of Hanukkah is one I feel represents America in this time. As long as there is faintest light there will always be hope,” Reid said. “I thank Rabbi Chaim for sharing his faith with us today.”
“The celebration of Hanukkah is a reminder of the hope we all have for Nevada’s bright future,” said Reid. “The story of Hanukkah is about keeping faith in the darkest of times and the story of overcoming adversity through perseverance is one that all Nevadans can be inspired by.”
“As families gather together to celebrate, let us all remember our neighbors in need and what we can do to support them and make our communities stronger. Together we can build a future as bright and as enduring as the lights of the Chanukkiyah. Chag Semeach!”
