Over 270 Mechanchim are packing their bags to attend the trailblazing Kinus Hamechanchim next week in Tarrytown, NY.
In a first time collaboration, the Merkoz Chinuch Office and Menachem Education Foundation (MEF) are teaming up to offer the annual Chabad Chinuch Convention to Mechanchim worldwide.
“Our team is so excited about all the unique features being offered at this event,” shares Rabbi Zalman Shneur, MEF founder and executive director. “This Kinus has simultaneous tracks to target various different roles in Chinuch, from teachers to admin office to everyone in between, for the very first time. There is also a huge emphasis on panels, networking and encouraging fruitful conversations to ensure that everyone goes home with new connections and new ideas that they can bring into poel mamash.”
Rabbi Yechiel Shanowitz of Cheder Chabad of Baltimore was one of the first to sign up. “I have been looking forward to months to this special opportunity to ‘recharge my batteries,’” he shares, “meeting with fellow Mechanchim, and learning and sharing techniques for the many challenges and opportunities in our Shlichus.” To date, Mechanchim, Menahalim and Administrators are signed up from over 40 Chabad schools and counting from around the world. Registration closes tomorrow and Mechanchim can sign up at www.kinushamechanchim.org.
The packed program has an average of four workshops and sessions for participants to choose from at any given time, with specialized tracks including sessions for primary grades, upper grades, school leadership, and administration, as well as topics of general interest for educators’ personal edification.
Rabbi Yosef Yeshaya Braun and Rabbi Osher Farkash will be leading the Mechanchim in learning and farbrenging to fuel the Neshama, as well as providing individual consultations throughout the Kinus. To bolster the Gashmius of Mechanchim in order to support their Avodas Hakodesh, Rabbi Chaim Rosenstein will be there to counsel participants on their finances, and Mechanchim will be treated to exclusive hours at the hotel pool, top of the line accommodations, and gourmet catering throughout the retreat.
Workshops and sessions include practical presentations on Chinuch from veteran educators and teachers from the field, including: Rabbi Nochum Kaplan, Rabbi Yossi Rosenblum, Rabbi Mendy Greenbaum, Rabbi Levi Feldman, Rabbi Zelly Silber, Rabbi Zalmy Kudan, and many more. Mental health and connecting with students, two vital topics in today’s educational climate, are being addressed by Rabbi Yakov Danishefksy, LCSW, Rabbi Sholom Scharf, and others.
Rabbi Mendel Moscowitz along with a Vaad representing a robust variety of Chabad schools is planning the program down to every detail, including networking, Divrei Torah, niche Chinuch “Buzz” Groups. Additional features participants can look forward to are musical entertainment with The Kapelle and Yossi Cohen at the Banquet, and a live podcast feature with popular interviewer Nachi Gordon, cleverly dubbed “Meaningful Mechanchim.”
The event takes place on כ”ה-כ”ו תמוז, in the Sleepy Hollow Hotel in Tarrytown, NY, and registration closes tomorrow. Mechanchim can still register at https://mymef.org/mens-convention-5784/ and be a part of the largest Kinus Hamechanchim yet, to pack their suitcases with practical strategies, chizuk and inspiration, and renewed energy for the coming school year.
Last year, Mendel Greenwald from Cheder in FL. Brought incredible energy. I hope he will be joining again.
