Dr. Nissan Kahen, who is today the Chairman of Citizens Choice Healthplan HMO in California, had an interesting question, and received an even more interesting answer, when he visited the Rebbe.
A video clip of the visit to Lubavitch Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway on 12 Shevat, 5751 – January 27, 1991 was posted online this week by Jewish Educational Media (JEM).
In it, the Los Angeles family practitioner poses a sincere question to the Rebbe, “How can I help Israel?”
The Rebbe immediately replies, “By healing as many Jews as possible” and then hands the doctor a few dollar bills for charity and adds, “This you’ll give for all your patients. Have good news.”
As Dr. Kahen walks away, the Rebbe calls him back and talks to him about the Hippocratic Oath, an oath historically taken by physicians and other healthcare professionals swearing to practice medicine honestly.
“As a doctor, you should heal as many Jews as possible, and non-Jews, as well,” the Rebbe said. “Best would be to have healthy patients, and to earn your livelihood from preventative medicine.”
rabbi illoulian Chief Rabbi of the Persian community of California together with his amazing children.
I can never forget when we had Persian kids stay at our home when they came from Iran. The Rebbe gave them special attention.
May they continue giving the Rebbe nachas

I’ll never forget the amount of yidden he brought to the Rebbe.
I love when he kisses the Rebbe’s hand, a beautiful minhag of the Sefardim (and some non-Chabad chassidim) to show honor to the tzaddikim and sages of Israel!
Can I have his info I would like to meet him
