In 1996, there was a gathering in 770. Rabbi Yehuda Kalman Marlow, the Rov of Crown Heights, participated.
Reb Yoel Kahn obm, who wasn’t there, heard about the event. He found out that certain pamphlets were distributed that he felt were not in the spirit of Chabad because they’d turn away people from the Rebbe.
He alluded to this in a letter to Rabbi Marlow.
He signs the letter this way:
Your true friend (Although I don’t mean to flatter you, nevertheless, you are my good friend who I only want your best)
Signed
Yoel Kahan

I am a simple homemaker and I was always impressed how Rav Marlow never
failed to greet me in the street, never pretending he didn’t see me or was too distracted.
I heard the following from rabbi kuty Feldman:
During the time that reb yoel was having strong disagreements with rabbi morlow, it was the first night of rosh hashana and reb yoel davend maariv at great length, (as was his custom on the night of rosh hashana) after davening reb yoel asked rabbi Feldman where he could now find rabbi morlow, because he wants to wish him a good year.
