A tribute project to 11-year-old Chabad girl Chaya Spalter, who passed away this month in Los Angeles, was launched this week in front of thousands of children from around the world.
MitzvosforChaya.com was presented to boys and girls during the global rally broadcasted in many Chabad schools in preparation for receiving the Torah on Shavuos.
Spalter, who was a Tzivos Hashem General, was angelic, refined with a heart of gold, said Rabbi Shimmy Weinbaum, executive director of Chayolei Tzivos Hashem. “She was friends with girls from every community – Chabad, Litvish, Chassidish, modern and even children from the Friendship Circle.”
To date, a reported 2823 Mitzvos were taken in memory of Chaya Mushka OBM bas Menachem Mendel. Among them were saying Modeh Ani and washing hands in the morning, and “see the good in every situation.”
Following the tribute during the rally, rank promotions were announced with a grand total of 5,001 promotions and 19,445 medals earned this year.
The program continued with the recitation of the 12 pesukim, followed by orders given from the Rebbe about children uniting through letters in the sefer Torah. Children were also reminded of the Rebbe’s request that all men, women, and children, come to shul for the 10 Commandments.
There was also the monthly raffle for children who completed their missions and brought them back to base. A total of 70 amazing prizes were won! Plus a mystery prize: this month the child who won will be taking their entire class out for pizza lunch including fries, soda, and ice cream.
The prizes don’t stop there. The children were given an extra two weeks to use all the points they have earned this year in the global Chinese auction, including hundreds of amazing prizes.
To take the achdus to the next level, the children signed a duch pledging to have respect for fellow chayolim even if they don’t agree with their personal views. “We aimed to fix the mistakes of Rabbi Akiva’s talmidim with a commitment to achdus hachasidim,” says Rabbi Weinbaum.
As the last rally of the year, children watched a rally highlight film of all 5775 rallies, which concluded with the giving of tzedoka and a heartfelt request that we spend Shavous in the beis Hamikdosh Hashlishi.
