Hatomim Mendy Kaye, Shliach and teacher in J.E.T.S. California, visited Tijuana, Mexico for shabbos, where the brother of 50-year-old Norma Shvarzblat Rabinovich HY”D, who was murdered in the Mumbai attacks, lives.
“I traveled there for shabbos, even though there is a travel warning in effect. Still more troubling to me, one of my most adventurous friends who would once make a quick run there from San Diego on the smallest whim, now refuses to cross the border,” said Kaye.
The trip brought happiness and comfort to the members of the local Chabad center, with davening and farbrenging lasting into the night.
“After maariv and reciting kiddush levana, the crowd broke into spirited dancing, singing ‘Dovid melech Yisroel, chai vekayom,’ relates Kaye. “The joy was from the knowlege that we will not give in, we will continue to live and spread the light and joy of yiddishkeit!”
After havdalla they watched the film on the shluchim in Mumbai, which was quite moving and emotional to the participants.
thanks for putting up the pics of the shluchim..
sorry anyone that got any miscommunication
I am personally a son of a shliach so whereever I go I am a shliach, I called up R Polichenko, after hearing the terrible news in Mumbai and wanting to help shluchim in similar dangerous situations, feel cared about, feel uplifted, feel that no matter where they are or how dangerous it is chasidim ain mishpocho, he said sure I can come, and he would even accomodate and feed me, it was a beautiful shabbos, and I am sure any bocher wanting to go help shluchim would really be a nice thing, adding chayos, showing support etc. of course… Read more »
It’s not clear whther the shliach asked for you, or you did this on your own whim. I’m glad you returned safely, I think it makes a difference when you are sent by a shliach of a shliach (i e Merkos or the shliach of the place) which would provide a semblance of rebbe-shliach status, If you went on your own – for your good and perhaps theirs too there’s a very dangerous message being proclaimed. Do you/COL want to condone, endorse, glamorize and sanctify people who go somewhere “to raise peoples spirits” on their own in direct contradiction of… Read more »

Venishmartem Me-od Lenafshosaichem is also a mitzva! This could of ended very differently and really should have been co-ordinated with Merkos who could have handled it more carefully! Thank G-D it was sucssessful and you came back safely! Please be more carefull next time! Life is too precious to waste it on a dare…..
