A new letter from the Crown Heights Rabbonim forbids the many outdoor minyans that have been taking place in the neighborhood.
Their letter reads as follows:
Further to our previous public notice, we wish to make clear that the guidelines regarding the closure of shules apply equally to house minyanim and outdoor minyanim; it is our opinion that individuals should daven alone in their houses at this time.
L’chayim and other commemorative celebrations should not be held in a face-to-face form. They can be held via phone conferencing.
Shabbos Mevorchim farbrengen should be held in the same fashion (remotely, not in person) on Motzei Shabbos.
Regarding Brissim and Chuppah celebrations, the rabbonim must be consulted on a case by case basis.
The daily Sheva Brachos celebrations are not an halachic requirement nor official custom and should NOT be held.
May we be zoche to the eradication of all illness with the coming of Moshiach NOW.

Coronavirus doesn’t hang around in the air. If everyone is maintaining a healthy distance, there’s nothing to worry about. Just don’t cough or sneeze on anyone!
Don’t question Das Torah.
If u question this u apparently do not respect human life. I saw these minyanim. Too many people together. And risking lives. Have a heart. Think of your fellow jew
Thank you to our Rabbonim.
Which alternate universe do you live in?
First of all it’s very hard to distance yourself from Friends and family
Second of all many people are not keeping to the rules.. it’s a plauge !
Its shfichas damim!!
Minyan is not yehareg v’al yavor
Actually studies say that it does stay in the air for up to 3 hours. It’s about time these minyanim are cancelled. We gotta stop being frum on the elderly populations expense.
We have to stop pretending this is only dangerous for elderly people!! It can cause hospitalization, permanent lung damage, and r”l even death for healthy young people too!
I read today that the virus does stay in the air for 4hours
The disease stays in the air for 3 hours. Read the science and listen to the rabbonim.
We all saw the pics yesterday. People are NOT keeping a safe distance. They were right on top of each other.
And you know how it is. Even if you try, men will invariably speak with one another, getting closer and potentially infecting others. Some will need help with tefillin. Others will share siddurim.
The Rabbis have ruled wisely. As hard as it is. As much as it pains our hearts, we must get through this together with as little loss of life as possible.
I watched these minyanom. No distancing. Stuff kept on same table. If u are questioning this u apparently do not respect human life
I watched these minyanim. Was not enough distancing. Putting stuff on same table. If you’re even questioning this u apparently do not respect human life. Pikuach nefesh. Aha as yisroel. Save a life
I see u must be very frum that u feel u need minyanim. Firstly as previous posts said. As frum people we don’t question da’as Torah. That’s being frum. And causing someone to get sick is def not frum. Please try to take this to heart
If the Minyan is held in a way that doesn’t bring to social contact, for example, if each member of the Minyan stands on his own porch, etc.
Then the Minyan MAY be held.
One of the Rabbonim confirmed this.
A minyan must be together in one place in order to be considered a minyan.
Which rabbi?
It would be very helpful to me if you could post who confirmed this ? Ty so much
Outdoor minyanim with space between people, and only healthy and men with low risk, under 60 etc? To ban it all doesn’t make sense medically. And if you take too much of an extreme people do not listen.
People by now known this diasease is serious and will hopefully listen
Why oh why are people second guessing our Rabbonim and our doctors. Where is this chutzpah coming from. Ur solution not practical. Makes no sense. And listen to our Rabbonim. Only not good comes from questioning and going against Rabbonim. Tune into rabbi YY Jacobson on this topic. He should set u straight
I thought that could work, but I was proven wrong in action. People over 60 come join anyway, and let’s not mention that the people pass each other getting to their place and touch the same siddurim or sefer torah without realizing!
As an added bonus(!), people in their 40s are in critical condition as well!!
This concept sounds good in theory, but is dangerous in action!
I’m sorry I don’t know how you got here to the site but failed to see the rest of the news?
There is no such thing anymore as healthy under 60 there was a healthier 40 year old who is now in critical care fighting for his life
Please I’m begging you to stop this misconception people are dying
A big rosh yeshiva in Lakewood today released a short drasha about how we have to be machmir in the mitzvah of pikuach nefesh. It’s a must-listen. Davening with a minyan when there’s a chance it could harm or kill someone has no place in a community like Crown Heights where people are machmir not to eat gebroks or unpeeled veggies.
Doing so has no place in ANY community, whether Lubavitch, Chassidish, Litvish, Sefardish, Modernish, or whatever.
There is a way to do it if you do it otdoors withing six feet of each other like I some are doing.
the rabbonim said NO!!! then davening with a minyan becomes a grave sin …..you are defying rabbonim. how dare you think that you are smarter and better and understand torah more than they do!!! the word of the rabbonim is torah….doing anything else you are oiver the averah of adding to torah and changing torah as you see fit. STOP already
Daven alone in your home. Don’t try to be a lawyer and look for loopholes when lives are at stake..it is going to crash the entire medical system.
Outdoor minyanim are an excellent way to continue community prayer without the risks of spreading the virus. The UV rays of the sun kill viruses so they don’t “hang out” in the air. As long as the men keep safe distances from each other, outdoor minyanim should be the davening of choice.
Clearly you know better that the drs, epidemiologists and rabbanim. You know how mnyanim work and how the virus works and you know that killing people is ok as long as you did it outside under the UV rays.
How many people in the community were hospitalized with covid? Too much speculation by the general public about exactly what is going on, we could use a few facts.
You need facts? Here’s a fact. The Gedaliah Society (which is all the local medical professionals) and the Rabbanim put out very clear notices.
LISTEN TO THEM.
A little kabalas ol will save lives.
Why do you need to know exactly who is in critical condition for you to believe that it is true?
If you don’t you are literally complicit.
I saw Rabbi Shmuel Lesches posted on Whatsapp: “People will rely on rabbonim to eat on Yom Kippur, but not about abstaining from a minyan. Go figure.”
Food for thought.
