Rabbi Yechiel Michel Hakohen Katz, a Rov and talmid chochom from Jerusalem, passed away on Shabbos, 11 Teves, 5781.
He was 80.
R’ Yechiel Michel was born in Jerusalem to his parents R’ Moshe Aharon Katz and Mrs. Sarah Katz, who was the daughter of the illustrious family of Harav Gedalya Moshe of Zvhil, and grandaughter of Harav Sholom’ke of Zvhil.
He was named after R’ Yechiel Michel M’Zlotchev, as he was an 8th generation descendant from him.
As a bochur, he learned in Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim Chabad in Jerusalem. After his marriage to his wife, Chaya Tova Katz, he served as a Rabbi of the Ben Dor neighborhood in Nesher, where he lived for many years. About 10 years ago, he moved to Jerusalem.
He is survived by his wife Chaya Tova and children, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Katz – Rechovot, Israel, Rabbi Gedalia Katz – Yishuv Kadima, Israel, and Rabbi Shloime Katz – Crown Heights.
The levaya will take place tonight in Jerusalem.
Shloime Katz will be sitting shiva at 710 Montgomery st for the following hours:
10:00- 1:00 pm
4:00- 8:00 pm

Shloime katz is named after R’ Shlomke (shlomo) zvhiller. The Zvhil rebbe are direct descendants of R’ Michel zlotchover too btw.
Reb Michel Katz was a special person. A person with deep meaning and genuine qualities.
