Rabbi Yisroel Noach Raichik, a Mashpia at the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch – 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, will be leading Congregation Levi Yitzchok in Los Angeles, it was announced on Thursday.
He will be succeeding his father, the longtime Shliach Rabbi Shimon Raichik OBM who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 69.
The announcement was made by colleagues of the late Rabbi Raichik during the levaya on Thursday – Rabbi Ezra Schochet, Rosh Yeshiva Ohr Elchanan Chabad in Los Angeles, and Rabbi Yosef Shusterman, a posek and Director of Chabad of North Beverly Hills.
“The work of Rabbi Shimon is going to go on,” Rabbi Schochet said in a broken voice while making the announcement in front of the large crowd that gathered.
He said the decision was the “ratzon” (will) of Rabbi Shimon Raichik and was in accordance with the ruling of the Rambam and Shulchan Aruch.
“We are announcing that it will be Harav Yisroel Noach Raichik to take over the rabbous and his membership in the Vaad Harabonim,” Rabbi Schochet said.
Rabbi Yisroel Noach Raichik, educated in Chabad Yeshivos and who has a vast knowledge in Torah and Chassidus, has been giving shiurim in 770 and to residents of Crown Heights in recent years.
Congregation Levi Yitzchok/Chabad of Hancock Park La Brea Blvd. is home to a flourishing Chabad community with 5 Shachris minyanim during the week, an array of shiurim, programs and farbrengens that are open to the wider community in the city.

I studied in Yeshivah with Harav Yisroel Noach Raichik. He is a man of highly refined character. He is humble and has so much Ahavas Yisroel to his fellow man. His understanding of Nigleh and Chassidus is vast and deep. He is a true Talmid Chacham and Chossid. He will do a fine job taking over the work of his wonderful father.
The only one who is genuine and willing to learn! True Lubavitcher and humble person.
I had the zechus to be in the same class as R’ Yisroel Noach. He was always someone to look up to in middos, ahavas Yisroel, limmud hatorah, and chssidishkeit. A true Tomim in every sense of the word. Los Angeles is lucky to have such a special Rov.
