Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz, Shliach in Southwest Florida, was honored by Rabbi Israel Meir Lau with the reciting of an extra Bracha at a recent wedding they performed in Tel Aviv.
Rabbi Minkowicz, in Tel Aviv to perform a wedding for one of his Shul congregants, was joined by Rabbi Lau who was the Mesader Kidushin.
Rabbi Minkowicz was given the honor of reciting the first 2 blessings, after which Rabbi Lau spontaneously said, “you recited the blessings so beautifully, please recite the third Bracha as well.”
The wedding guests were very moved by Rabbi Lau’s comment and the honor he bestowed on their Rabbi and Shliach.
Rabbi Lau, former Ashkenazi chief rabbi of Israel, has often marveled about the work and dedication of Chabad Shluchim in both large communities and far-flung locations around the world, connecting Jews from all backgrounds to their roots.
At a keynote address at the International Kinus Hashluchim in New York last year, Lau said the Rebbe’s philosophy was, “Take responsibility. Be aware. But not only for the whole nation, or for the whole community, but for every individual.”
You rock!!
If he was there to perform the wedding, why wasn’t he mesader kidushin. Isn’t that the same thing??
