Head Shliach in New Jersey, Rabbi Moshe Herson marked his 75th birthday this past Thursday at a small Farbrengen in his office in Morristown.
Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Rabbi Herson made the journey to study in a Lubavitch yeshiva in New York at age fifteen. He later received his Smicha ordination.
Today, Herson is the dean of the Rabbinical College of America, where hundreds of students from 24 states and 18 foreign countries have learned since 1956.
The 82-acre campus is also the New Jersey Headquarters of the Chabad Lubavitch movement.
The Farbrengen was attended by rabbis Yisroel Gordon, Hershel Lipsker, Asher Herson, Chaim Brafman, Mendy Herson, Mendel Goldberg and Mendel Solomon.
The senior Rabbi Herson reviewed a Chasidic Ma’amar, as is customary.
He and Rabbi Gordon then moved to reminiscing about the “good old times” of 5710-5715 in Camp Mesivta and by the Rebbe.
