Pictures show what a great man he was!
We are the family in the first picture, Lauren, Itschak, and Daniel Zahavi. We have known Rabbi Gurevitch many years from his visits to Curacao. We became partners with Colel Chabad with Lev Zahav, the beit Cham for teenage girls in Tsfat. Every time we went to Israel Rabbi Gurevitch would introduce us to A Colel Chabad project ; packing rice at pantry packers, making shabbat boxes at one of the markets, making sandwiches to give out for breakfast at a school.. The photo above was taken at the new facility in Jerusalem lthat offers round the clock care and… Read more »

I remember Chaim from when he was a shliach in West Hartford, CT and I was a kid growing up. He was such a kind person; a real mentch. And a true Chossid. יהא זכרו ברוך. My condolences to Fraidy and all the kids.
A REALLY TRUE CHOSID
He was such a generous and joyful man. He hosted my parents with tremendous warmth, and would always ask if I had a Shabbos meal when he saw me in shul. Deep condolences to his wife and children.
We are beyond shocked and devastated at this terrible occurrence: living downstairs from your family for over 20 years, we shared many simchas together & watched our children grow up as friends. Fraidy and children, we are so so sorry and wish you all comfort in the knowledge that Reb Chaim was an exemplary Chosid and a generous and warm man who raised a beautiful family. And we send our best wishes to our old friends in 555, who will be as upset as we are.
My heart goes out to the family of this wonderful educator Lunch and Learn study groups in downtown Hartford lead to a life time of learning A blessing that will always be remembered Dan C
We are family – Chaim’s mother Bella is my cousin, my name is Yulia, my husband’s name is Rafail. A day before that awful misfortune Rafa said to me: any day now Chaim will bring us Shmura Matzah. Instead we hear devastating news about his passing. Please accept our condolences. We remember Chaim from his early childhood still in Russia The first simcha for us here in America was engagement of Chaim and Fraidy (let her live till 120 years in a good health). He was always with a big smile on his face, always with kind wishes, ready to… Read more »
first met r. Chaim at r. Srugo´s house in Medellin Colombia in 1987 and we have kept up the friendship up to his untimely passing. We met in Israel, Miami, Medellin, Amsterdam and I always enjoyed this true friendship. VERY SAD. Due to his many airtravels, his children called him avinu shebashamayim. Now he is their real av shebashamayim, taking care of his (grand) children, siblings, mother and many many dear friends from the olam a ha´emes. TMTBH.
