Reb Yona Gorin, a member of the Russian-speaking Jewish community at FREE of Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, passed away on Sunday, 6 Kislev, 5781.
He was 81.
Reb Yona grew up in Odessa, later in his life he was very involved in the leadership of the Moscow Jewish community.
He later moved to Brighton Beach, also known as “Little Odessa” due to its tight-knit Russian and Eastern European communities.
He was a dear member of F.R.E.E of Brighton Beach, led by Rabbi Hershel Okonov. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, and his 2 sons.
The Levaya will take place on Monday morning, passing by 770 at 10:00 AM on its way to Old Montefiore Cemetery.
