R’ Yeshayahu (Shayke) Lesches OBM, a long time resident of Tel Aviv, and the oldest brother of the Rov of Lubavitch in Monsey, Rav Boruch Dov Lesches and Tzali Lesches of Crown Heights, passed away.
He was 74 and had suffered from an illness for some time.
R’ Yeshayahu, or simply ‘Shayke,’ as he was known, was a resident of Tel Aviv where he was the principal of the Torat Moshe School, a vocational school that primarily served students from the Edut Mizrach/Sephardic community. He was someone who helped many of his students succeed not only academically, but also in matters of their personal lives as well. R’ Shayke also served as the Rov of a local shul, also called Torat Moshe.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cherna Lescher, and his children Mrs. Pinina Goldberg, Shlomie Lesches, Yehuda Lesches, Sari Greenbaum, and Dovi Lesches.
He is also survived by siblings, Rav Boruch Dov Lesches of Monsey and Tzali Lesches of Crown Heights.
Rav Boruch Lesches will be sitting shiva in Monsey, and Tzali Lesches will be sitting shiva in Crown Heights at 329a Crown St. (Shachris at 7:30 am).
