Where in the world would you be when you come across two Rabbis, a couple of clown suits, a megilla and a weather forecast of 102 degrees? Rural Australia of course!
As part of their mission to provide for the spiritual, emotional and material needs of Jewish people living away from Jewish centres, this past week, Chabad of RARA, headed by Saul Spigler, coordinated an incredible 11 Purim events throughout Australia, reaching over 300 people on their travels.
Megilla readings, Purim parties, Tefillin wraps, Mezuza affixing and an inspiring Shabbaton in Townsville were all part of the spiritual awakening occurring in the hot dusty outback over the weekend.
Chabad of RARA wouldn’t be able to achieve such amazing results without the generous assistance of enthusiastic Rabbis and young couples who kindly gave of their time over Purim to reach out to those in remote and regional Australian towns:
Geelong: Rabbi Eliyahu and Liron Murdechayev
Newcastle & Central Coast: Rabbis Shaul Wolf and Mendel Fisher
Port Macquarie & Coffs Harbour: Rabbis Shloimi Gross and Y. Lipsker
Toowoomba, Gatton & Sunshine Coast: Rabbis Mendel Barrocas and Ovadya Rogalski
Sale: Rabbi Pinchas Cylich and Zalman Schmerling
Cairns & Townsville: Rabbi Yossi and Malki Rodal
