A group of parents and educators are introducing an innovative preschool for girls in Crown Heights.
This is a welcome relief to parents seeking a small school setting as Boruch Hashem our community continues to grow. Its mission is to instill a strong foundation of Yiras Shamayim and Middos Tovos in the children. Through the use of effective educational methods such as differentiated instruction and a thematic approach, the Ateres Chaya program will help children acquire advanced learning skills while awakening their minds and hearts to leading a joyful Torah life.
In the thematic classroom, teachers teach various skills using one fundamental theme. For instance, as Sukkos approaches, the skills of pre math are taught by adding blocks to build a Sukkah and sorting Arba Minim cards. Fine motor skills are stimulated through shaping Esrogim using modeling clay and tracing letters to label the names of the Chassidishe Ushpizin. This creates a community of learners engaged in a Chinuch that is exclusively “Al Taharas Hakodesh.”
Children are proud when they can figure things out on their own and the Ateres Chaya program provides the tools and encouragement in a personalized, exciting environment. In this setting, children are active learners rather than passive recipients. One example is Parsha study. Parshas Vayeira comes alive when the drama center is transformed into a desert where students dress up as “Avraham” and “Sara” and busily build a four-door tent. The writing center becomes a creative hub to make guest invitations and children learn life skills – how to set a table using a special placemat to guide them. They measure and mix ingredients to bake treats in honor of their Orchim. Individual work emphasizes creativity, pair work teaches how to share and working in a group develops respect for our differences.
Ateres is a crown and this one has a special gem: a successful Aleph-Beis – Kriah curriculum. In small group settings, the program allows each child to learn at her own pace. Enhanced by multi-sensory activities including: self-correcting charts, color coded cards, music and clay, every child is involved. Teachers are trained to assess each child’s progress and find the best mediums for them to learn. Yes, every child succeeds!
The staff members of Ateres Chaya are professionally certified and experienced educators. Leah Levine, the preschool director, has been working in the education field for over a decade in Israel and America. She is known for her commitment and devotion to every student providing individual attention ensuring each student’s success.
Under her direction, the teacher for the 3-5 year old class will be Mina Liberow (Cohen). “Morah Mina” is a popular teacher with extensive experience, successfully working with preschool children at various levels and abilities.
Ateres Chaya preschool is a place where learning is an experience full of discovery and happiness. The active learning and individualized attention enables children to feel a sense of belonging as they enthusiastically anticipate coming to school every day. Using the tools and methods described, students acquire a love for leading a life guided by Torah and Chassidus as is the mission of the school.
Registration is open yet space is limited.
