The inauguration and kindling of the first public Menorah to be displayed at the 71st Precinct of the New York Police Department in Crown Heights took place Thursday.
The Menorah was dedicated by Chabad Air, directed by Rabbi Yossi Rapp, in appreciation of the officers who protect and serve the Crown Heights neighborhood. It was donated in memory of Chana bas Avrohom.
At the event, Rabbi Menachem Shagalov said that the Rebbe always encouraged positive relationships between the community and the NYPD.
The ribbon on the new Menorah, which will be lit annually at the precinct, was cut by Community Affairs officers Detective Vinny Martinos, Officer Mike Baratta, and Officer Max Augustin.
Karl Cohen, President of the 71st Community Council, was honored with lighting the Shamosh candle.
Yossi Rap Good job
Great idea, next year, it would be nice to know ahead of time vs afterwards
Nice event
But this was one of the smartest moves the jewish community could have done with the pct…… the more they get to really know the jewish community through its residents and not through its leaders, the more the police officers will appreciate our community.
Yossi is a great man and does it quietly.
We salute you Yossi!
Let it help usher in the era of complete and perfect peace and goodness, asap, community wide & worldwide משיח כאו!!
Is there a video at all?
may we all be safe bez”H!
Amazing work that Reb Yossi Rapp and Family do for the community. We can have our disagreements with the police but it is also important to give them proper hakaros hatov they don’t have an easy job.
