The odd case of the broken turnstile.
Officers of the New York Police Department have opened an investigation into vandalism in the dormitory of the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch – 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights.
Sources told COLlive.com that around 3:30 AM on Friday night, one and possibly 2 males were seen near the turnstile that is placed at the entrance of the dining room of the dormitory at 1414 President Street.
What was left broken was the new keypad with which bochurim used their fingerprint to enter the dining room as the Yeshiva tries to regulate the foot traffic that frequents the daily meals served.
No objects were stolen and no other items were broken.
Upon the instruction of rabbinim, the management of the Yeshiva called the police and filed a report.
Police are said to be reviewing surveillance camera footage that will help them to catch the culprits.
