My wife adds that she hopes that the washrooms in the ladies’ section will be updated to be suitable.
I’m not saying the old tables and benches should just be thrown out without a second thought; indeed, commenter #5 (and #15) make a good point, that buyers can and should be found for them. But after all, if these new benches and tables enhance a single bochur’s learning – and yes, if they make 770 more of a “nice showcase” that attracts a single more person who may thereby be Jewishly affected – then that far outweighs any considerations of “חפצים the Rebbe used.” You mention the matter of “not touching a brick of 770,” but bear in mind… Read more »
Why are they doing this?? leave 770 alone!
Let me tell you something about the new benches. the old ones was better because now you cant climb over them it might look more comfortable but its not. you have to ask so meany people to move and stand up from there places
You misunderstood what I wrote obviously the חפצים are not “chabad” the question is how are we looking at the Rebbe and what the Rebbe held of, as some old thing? or are we living with it and breathing with it, we AL remember how strongly the Rebbe held of not touching a brick of 770. What these ppl are saying is that all other חסידותן have nice representible shuls and chabad looks like a dump… So here is the question are we here to make 770 a tourist attractions and make sure that chabad looks “presentable” or are we… Read more »
when will they stop, next the windows floor ? lights ? whey are there learning in 770 anyway, let them get someplace bigger
note they re missing the signature standing platfom on the seat back. So no more bleachers??
Folding seats are a hazard for little fingers. I’ve seen it happen – shrieking little girl who had her hand right where the seat touches the metal bar in the back. Watch for children behind the bentch before putting down the seat!!
One of those tables were used by the Rebbe for Mincha on Shabbos, the one by the back liberary, besides the one made into an Aron, Gor a Heileker tish! It should be used to fundraise expenses of 770 and meanwhile give a wealthy anash shull in eck velt a bissel chassidersher derher having a table the Rebbe used and being metzayer az “Eech fort doch meet aich” and the highest bidder should win, not for a private individual though, davka to a Tzibur of Anash in my opinion!
5 seats on a table of 4 means each person sits on 2 half seats with a crack right under him.
Is this a mistake?
Brilliant! Perfectly designed for upstairs. they don’t haVe the extra piece on the back. they take up minimal amount of space necessary. I am sure that a lot of thought has gone into their selection. if you have any objections I am sure that cbh will address your concerns.
The table the Rebbe used was made an aron. The Bench with the cushion that the Rebbe used disappeared. If you know what happened to it, please post.

I want to tell my kids these are the benches the rebbe sat on
Enjoy the new benches and tables and say thank you.
Yasher Koach!
Looks like a polisher shtibul now :/
How we never forget the Rebbe is through ויורנו מדרכיו ונלכה באורחותיו, not by using the same furniture as he did. Think pnimiyus, not chitzoniyus.
What used to be able to hold 10 bachurim can now only hold 5! Individual seats means no room to squeeze…
THANK YOU ABZ furniture for making this happen. You are the best!
what is going to happen with all of the tables that the reebe used ,to a museum?
what are we a chabad organisation which has to have a nice shocase room or are we the chabad chasidus and we have a rebbe which we will never forget
Who gets the old ones? Would have been a great fundraiser to auction off pieces. I, for one, would have paid $180 for a piece.
tables the rebbe stood on these tables birkas habonim, giving matzos, chose daled minim ect..
and r”l they r throwing them out!?
This new furniture has a decidedly Israeli look to it. Wish it could have been nicer…
Kol hakovod it lasted 43+ years happy to see them replaced
