A collection of photos from a rare meeting the Rebbe had with the prominent Israeli posek and Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, has recently been released.
Rabbi Eliyahu was serving as Chief Sephardic Rabbi of the Israel at the time and this was the last Yechidus that he had with the Rebbe, taking place in 1992.
When people found out that the Rebbe would be meeting with Rabbi Eliyahu, the news spread like wildfire, since the Rebbe had almost entirely stopped having private Yechidus nearly a decade before.
“During our four audiences, the Rebbe always sought out the merit of others. No matter the subject we were discussing, the Rebbe steered the conversation so that he could praise others,” Rabbi Eliyahu once recalled.
Following the meeting, the Rebbe escorted Rabbi Eliyahu outside.
The photos are part of a larger collection given to RebbeDrive.com, being released now in honor of the 26th anniversary of this Yechidus on 6 Cheshvan, 5752.
They were first presented in a Teshura memento for a Bar Mitzvah that also included letters from the Rebbe (download here).
