The first letter of the new Torah that will be written in honor of Bais Rivkah School’s 80th anniversary was written on Wednesday.
The letter ‘Beis’, the first letter of the Torah and the first of Bais Rivkah, was written by philanthropist R’ Sholom Ber Drizin, with the assistance of renowned Sofer Rabbi Moshe Klein. They were joined by Rabbi Moshe Pinson, the school’s director of development.
The new Torah, the 8th one for the flagship girls school, was begun at an event last January.
In 5742, the Rebbe instructed Bais Rivkah to write a Sefer Torah with letters consisting of all associated with the school. Today, 40 years later, Bais Rivkah celebrates its 80th birthday with the writing of its 8th Sefer Torah to date! Throughout the year letters have been bought by students, teachers, and families connected to the school, but today Bais Rivkah takes it one step further.
The 8th graders of Bais Rivkah will be joining in a call center. The goal: that every student in our school should have a letter in the 80 year Bais Rivkah Sefer Torah! No matter the age, every girl and family in Bais Rivkah shares a connection, a unity, and we are strengthening that connection and community though being united in one Sefer Torah scroll. The Rebbe spoke multiple times about the Brachos that are drawn down through being united through a unity Bais Rivkah Torah, and our school hopes to maximize those Brachos and unite every girl in the Mosad together for this special year.
