Hundreds attended the annual Chof Beis Shevat farbrengen near the Rebbe’s Ohel on Monday night organized by Vaad Or Vechom.
The event featured speakers who merited to have personal interactions with the Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka and shared their stories.
The event was chaired by Minnesota Shliach Rabbi Mendel Feller.
Speakers included Rabbi Shem Rokeach of Borough Park, a relative of the Rebbetzin whose family kept close contact with the Rebbe and Rebbetzin throughout the years. Rabbi Rokeach grew up with the Rebbetzin as a central figure of his youth, and told of the exceptionally warm relationship his grandmother had with the Rebbetzin (her cousin) as well as told of his first-hand encounters he was zoche to have with her in her home.
Another guest was Rabbi Levi Shemtov of Riverdale, N.Y., son-in-law of the late Dr. Moshe Feldman, who merited to serve as the personal physician of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin. Rabbi Shemtov revealed an insider’s perspective of his father-in-law’s long-lasting relationship with the Rebbetzin, as well as a personal story he merited to experience.
Also speaking were Rabbi Chaim Schapiro, Rosh Yeshivah of Morristown, N.J., who shared his memories as a bochur in 1988, and Wisconsin head Shliach Rabbi Yisroel Shmotkin who addressed “Vehachai yiten el libo,” learning from the Rebbetzin’s holy ways.
