While Crown Heights is still not back to its full capacity until after Labor Day, children back from camps are already seen roaming the streets.
The scene pained this past summer’s Head Counselors of Camp Gan Israel in Parksville and they decided to hold an impromptu program.
“Too many kids were running around doing nothing,” Zalman Shimon Wolf, whose parents hosted the reunion at their home on Balfour Place, told COLlive.
Wolf and his colleagues Levi Greenberg and Yossi Unsdofer spread the word in 770 and on the street about a Chitas learning program, followed by BBQ.
“We invited whoever we saw,” they said.
20 boys showed up on Monday afternoon, happy to meet fellow bunkmates.
Another program will be held this week.
Asked how kids can find out about the next program, Wolf replied: “If you come to 770, you’ll probably meet somone who knows when and where.”
