The talmidim of Mesivta Ohr Temimim Toronto have been immersed in a very successful Mivtzah Torah with increased hasmada and geshmak.
In culmination of this Mivtza, they spent a very meaningful three day Lag Ba’Omer trip with their Magid Shiur and Shluchim. “Mishpacha Resort”, which was rented exclusively for the Mesivta, offers beautiful natural grounds with a huge lakefront for swimming, boating, canoeing and kayaking along with many other activities available on site.
On Lag Ba’Omer, the Mesivta enjoyed an outdoor spirited bonfire and farbrengen which continued late into the night. Friday the Talmidim utilized the opportunity of having their shiur Chasidus and seder niglah in the fresh and pleasant country outdoors. Friday afternoon, the bochurim enjoyed the magnificent lake with canoeing, kayaking, paddle boating and swimming.
Erev Shabbos, the lake became the mikva once again and the talmidim greeted Shabbos with high spirits. “Spending three days together in an enjoyable and relaxed environment, davening, learning and farbrenging together, the bochurim returned to their regular seder in yeshiva energized and with a new chayus to finish off this amazing year with an added fervor and koch in Limud Hatora,” said Rabbi Eliezer Posner.
In Mesivta Toronto, the bochurim learn Gemara Rashi and Tosfos in depth with Meforshim and Poskim, Rosh, Rif, Ran and Rambam, They also delve into the WHY various poskim rule differently and how they arrive to their pesak from the Gemara. In addition, the bochurim memorize the Gemara, Rashi and Tosfos – Shakla Vetarya by heart. And while keeping with the standards of learning and hanhaga of Lubavitch Mesivtas, they employ a Differentiated Learning Program to suit the needs of the individual.
In the latter part of the afternoon, parents and talmidim have the options of choosing from several subjects of Kodesh and Chol: In Kodesh, the Mesivta offers two Bekius Tracks; Halacha and Mishnayos. The bochurim (in a span of 3 years) will complete the entire Shas Mishnayos and complete the entire Kitzur Shulchan Aruch of the applicable daily Halachos. This track includes review sheets and rigorous tests. In Chol, the Mesivta offers the option of an Accredited General Studies Program, leading to a recognized diploma. The program also offers Computer Science and Coding.
“With a serious day of Limud Ha’Torah in a beautiful and spacious learning facility, on-site Mikva and a well-equipped dormitory, the Mesivta provides the bochurim with the ideal learning setting,” said Rabbi Baruch Zaltzman, Dean.
